On the 8th of November, “Gobi tour-Complex service” forum was held in Umnugovi province, Mongolia. The event has two parts, forum and practical and theory training for local tourist drivers, tour guides and cooks based in the province, and held for three days. The training was implemented by experts and lecturers from Ulaanbaatar city.
The forum was co-organized by the Governor’s office of Umnugovi province, The Wonderful Gobi tourism association, GIZ Mongolia, Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Gobi Oyu development support fund, and there were delegates from local tour operators, ger camps, hotels and tourism experts as well. In other words, it was a meeting of private and public entity representatives.
The forum covered tourism-related topics such as hospitality-service quality, ger camps and lodges, barriers that stakeholders face, strategies for further development of the industry.
From Wellspring Voyage, Duuya attended the forum as one of the private entities and shared our perspectives along with constructive comments. She noted that the forum was very effective indeed, and Umnugovi aimag showed that they are one of the leading provinces in tourism sector among other provinces owing to the fact that the governor's office and other public entities are being constructive and implementing projects so as to dismiss/decrease barriers faced by stakeholders and to improve the tourism-related products.
